Undermount Shaw Fireclay Sink

Several of my clients have preferred single bowl sinks to the double bowl ones, but this was the first time I have designed using a fireclay Shaw Apron sink installed as a totally undermounted sink.  Some precautions had to be taken since this is a handmade sink with rounded edges and can have a variance of 2” in width.  The sink is about 150 lbs and requires a support system underneath in the cabinet.  The sink when filled with water can weigh up to 400 lbs so the support has to be able to accommodate this weight.  I ordered a Rohl RC3618 apron sink and installed it in a B39 cabinet.  If it is possible in the kitchen design to use an increased depth base to 27” then that would make the installation of the plumbing fixtures easier.  The regular 24” base depth made the faucet installation take longer.

The sink is just gorgeous in place and my clients are extremely happy with the product.
